Rachael Poirier has more than 16 years of experience
as a choreographer and dance instructor and
has trained throughout North America in cities
including Vancouver, Toronto, New York and
Los Angeles. Her dances have captivated audiences
across Canada the US as far away as Japan,
China, Bulgaria, Greece and Sweden, winning
numerous awards for their innovative style
and consistent originality. Her most recent
credits include the choreography for Alex
Wong's "Capture the Tiger" solo,
with which he became the first Canadian winner
at the Prix De Lausanne in Switzerland. This
piece has also been performed with A.B.T.
Studio Theatre N.Y. in 2005 and the Miami
City Ballet Company for their 2006 season.
Her innovative choreography for Fei Fei Ye’s
Contemporary piece “Innocence”
was awarded a Bronze Medal in the Varna Competition.
Rachael was also awarded a choreography award
for Melissa Ong’s performance of “Attitude
with Strings” at the 2007 youth Grand
Prix in Carolina. Rachael has choreographed
for numerous industrial shows as well as the
opening acts for the B.C. Country Music Awards,
for Michael Buble, and for the world renowned
magician Juliana Chen.
Ms. Poirier founded R.P. Danzmode Productions
in Vancouver, B.C. Canada in 1994. Many of
the dancers from Danzmode Productions have
become professional dancers working with artists
such as Janet Jackson, Britney Spears, Rianna,
Chris Brown, Mia Michaels and Jenifer Lopez.
Others have danced for prestigious Academies
and Companies including the San Francisco
Ballet, Washington D.C. Ballet Company and
the National Ballet of Canada. Numerous students/dancers
of Rachael's represented with her choreography
have gone on to compete and win at the B.C.
Provincials in the Ballet, Modern, Jazz and
Musical Theatre categories. Her students have
been runner-ups four times at the New York
City Dance Alliance National Finale and in
2006 Rachael’s Teen Outstanding Dancer
(Kirsten Wicklund) won in the New York National
Finals.
Most of Rachael’s time is spent in her home studio
“Danzmode Productions” in Burnaby
B.C. working with her competitive companies.
She continues to set pieces and coach Goh
Ballet students for International competitions.
At the 2007 Youth Grand Prix in Los Angeles
Alyssa Steven was awarded outstanding Contemporary
performance for her dance “womb”
choreographed by Rachael. Rachael has recently
been asked to represent Canada as a choreographer
taking a team of twenty four dancers to the
World Dance Competition in Germany.
Dance has been Rachael’s life, her dreams and her existence since she was five years old. Teaching allows her to share her passion and knowledge of dance gained through her experiences.
