Our Story

Serving the Burnaby community for over 30 years, Danzmode has long been a place where dancers of all ages come to learn, grow, and be inspired. In 2017, the studio began an exciting new chapter under passionate ownership, carrying forward a proud tradition of developing competitive dancers who are tough, hardworking, and humble.

In 2021, we moved into our current South Burnaby location, where our dedicated and close-knit team of instructors—many of whom have been with us for years—continues to foster a culture that blends strong technical training with creativity, artistry, and community.

In recent years, our dancers have taken part in a wide range of opportunities, including performances in Cinderella and The Nutcracker. In 2024, our talented teachers choreographed a 25-minute original program for our competitive team to perform at Disneyland, showcasing the skill, passion, and artistry that define Danzmode. Looking ahead, we’re thrilled to have our dancers representing Canada at both the World Acrobatic Championships and Dance World Cup this season.

Values

Our Values

We aren't just training dancers, we are training people that dance.

At Danzmode we understand that dance classes aren't just about learning to dance, but are also about your child:

  • making & accomplishing goals

  • not quitting when things get difficult

  • learning that success doesn't happen overnight

  • being proud of their (& their teammates) achievements

  • dealing with disappointment

  • taking care of their body

  • supporting their friends, teachers, & dance family

Our core values:

  • We work for inclusivity and choose language carefully to ensure our dancers learn to model respect.

  • We value safe movement with a focus on warm up and appropriate stretching while working within body-led ranges.

  • We build resilience and focus on mental strength and positivity so our dancers learn skills that carry over into the rest of their lives.

We are mindful at all times that we are teaching children and youth and we are committed to keeping them safe. With social media all around us (and more importantly, our children) we are greatly concerned about the growing trend of dancers performing well above their age. It is important to us, as educators, to set the tone and be leaders by:

  • keeping dancers with their peers by grouping them by both age and ability

  • educating parents about safe dance practices and injury prevention

  • costuming our dancers in ways that promote confidence

  • actively listening to our music to ensure that both lyrics and song meaning are appropriate

  • being aware of movement that may be viewed as suggestive or sexualized

Faculty

Our Team

Coming together is a beginning. Keeping together is progress. Working together is success.

It is important to us that our dancers have the consistency of regular teachers, which means a small faculty who know our dancers well and who uphold our values in their classes.
